During the winter months we engage a plowing service. However, if the area experiences ice or heavy snowfall, the road may become difficult to keep cleared and not well suited for 2WD vehicles. As a result, during the winter months (December - March) we require that guests have an AWD or 4WD vehicle.

Upstairs you'll find a small sitting room suitable for reading and bedroom with a queen bed, as well as, a bathroom w/shower. Behind the house sits the farm's barn and milk house. The milk house is a small building where dairy milk was once stored. It has been converted to a fair weather bunkhouse for two. Off the back of the barn is a small deck with seating offering remarkable views of resident livestock and nature. Enjoy walking the trails, canoeing on French Creek or exploring during the summer months. And, of course, there’s the ongoing Hard Aground horseshoe tournament. Delight in cross country skiing or snowshoeing during the winter or view the magnificent local autumn foliage. However, ultimately, relaxation is the order of the day. A hot cup of tea by the wood stove, share a bottle of wine on the deck or read a few chapters on the back porch of the barn with lovely views. There are 18 rooms in all, each having lovely views of the surrounding forest. Multiple living room areas accommodate comfortable reading and relaxation spaces as well as venues for crafts, cards, board games and group exchanges. Libraries invite browsing. Expansive decks at the second level of each wing encourage similar activities outside. There is a fully-equipped large kitchen with an adjacent large dining area; a kitchenette is also available for additional food preparation. Many cooks can comfortably work together without concern for “spoiling the broth.” (Guests are, of course, responsible for their own food. Recommendations for catering services and local restaurants will be available. (It should be noted, however, that restaurants and grocery stores are at least nine miles away.) Although the lodge is rustic it is well-appointed with comfort features such as hot water baseboard heat fueled by natural gas from wells on the property. The Wilderness Lodge was founded in 1969 by James and Nansi Janes (my grandparents). Jim wanted to create a unique place in the image of a european style inn. As you enter the lodge you are greeted by the main dining room and a huge round fireplace. The natural rustic feel of the hand hewn beams with the granite floor and bar instantly feel as though you have stepped back in time. There are 9 available guest rooms with a max capacity of 31. There are 7 bathrooms in the upstairs and 2 downstairs. In order to properly care for this huge property, I (Ryan), my wife Emily, and our 3 children live here on property in a separate residence that is attached to the Inn. Not only am I able to help guide you to local activities and attractions, I am also available to be your private Chef during your stay your stay so please inquire about menu options when you book. The Kitchen was fully upgraded in January 2015 with a Vulcan Convection oven and 6 burner top, Vulcan IR Salamander Broiler, Garland 36" flat top with a conventional oven and a commercial dish machine. There is a huge selection of area attractions to fill your days. We are close to multiple wineries in the North east Area as well as a couple of fantastic brewpubs such as Southern Tier, Voodoo, and Sprague Farms. The Beaches of Presque Isle and Bemus point are both easy drives. There are 3 Casinos within an hour. When you book the Lodge for your stay you will have the entire place to yourself including all of the grounds and a full commercial kitchen. The lodge sits on 350 acres of private land and the trail network expands over 1200 acres including the neighbor property that we manaintain. Enjoy hiking on 26 miles of groomed trail, fishing in the pond, or shooting on our private ranges. (10yd, 50yd, 100yd,) There are frequently deer at the feeders in the back yard and the nights here are even more beautiful than the days because of our extremely low level of light pollution. On a clear night literally millions of stars are visible. There is a stocked fishing pond on the property (no barbed hooks please) and it is also fun to go and feed the collection of Japanese Koi. There are multiple campsites and fire pits spread around the property as well. Please allow us to prepare your group a picnic lunch and deliver it to any spot on the property that you choose.

Our cabin is located near the small settlement of Neilltown (actually a crossroads with 6 homes and a church) 9 miles from Tionesta & Titusville and within the western part of the PA Wilds, adjacent to the Allegheny National Forest and Wilderness Area. You can come here to relax, find peace and quiet, and refresh your spirit in the solitude of the Big Woods. Or, you can find more activities than you can possibly do in one visit. Our property is a beautifully restored and expanded farmhouse located on scenic Route 6 in northwestern Pennsylvania. The 4-bedroom, 4 1/2 bath farmhouse is located on a working horse farm that covers more than 100 acres. We also have a charming adjoining cabin and chalet, if needed, at additional cost. All accommodations are heated and cooled with our new geo thermal system. We have a sledding hill, a 1.5 mile finished trail great for cross country runs and also a small lake on the property too, perfect for swimming and canoeing. Guided horse back trail rides on our beautiful property are also available, weather permitting. We rebuilt the Galloping Inn as a labor of love, with the vision of creating an ideal destination for social getaways, unique recreation and enjoyment of the environment. It’s really very special. The farmhouse dates back to the mid 1850's and is one of the oldest structures in the area. When we restored it, we did so with an eye for preservation, style and modern comfort. The kitchen is awesome. Newly remodeled with all new appliances and features a large granite table that seats ten. People have come here for many years to escape their everyday routine and to have a stress free experience. It’s a freestanding destination, meaning you can do just about anything you want. The location is very private and there is lots of space so if you share the place with other friends or families, you’ll have plenty of room to yourself. You can play some music, go for a hike, explore the nearby foothills, streams and lakes, cook a big meal, ride horses, whatever makes you happy. The thing everyone seems to appreciate most is the fresh air, freedom and comfortable warmth highlighted by our selection of top quality bedding. We built a bar in the great room which is adjacent to the kitchen. There is an entertainment room upstairs which is a perfect place for the kids to watch movies (someone was really thinking there). There are two large decks off the back of the house where you can take in the evening sun. And the back lawn is large enough for your choice of outdoor games. If you feel like doing some exploring, there are lots of things to do nearby. Within a 30 minute drive you can rent boats and cruise the waters of the Allegheny Reservoir, visit the charm of Chautauqua, or enjoy golfing the undulated hills of many great courses including Peek ‘n Peak. For additional space, you can also rent the cabin, located across the driveway from the farmhouse. It sleeps four people and has a king bed, pullout couch, full bath and kitchenette. It also has a covered porch and overlooks the barn and stables. That rents for $295 for the weekend, $140 each additional night. The Chalet, up the driveway about 1/8 mile from the farmhouse, overlooks the pond and is very comfortable and spacious. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, open concept kitchen and great room. Our "farm" has horses, chickens and a dog; hike with a map, or ride your horse, with a waiver. Good for solo and family. I cook farm fresh eggs for breakfast schedules permitting. In winter, AWD/4WD recommended. God is good and we try honoring Jesus in ALL we do. That means hosting you! You can have total privacy, or socialize, if you like. What you get: a private room with a private entrance and private bathroom. You also have access to the: pond, pool, deck area, trails and zip line (waiver required).
